Penn State Health St. Joseph Povery Simulation - Volunteers Needed In the United States today, over 40 million people are living in poverty. Even more exist just above the poverty level guidelines but struggle every day with meeting basic needs. Berks County is no exception. The Missouri Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) is a learning tool created to help people understand the realities of poverty. It consists of an experiential portion as well as a reflection debrief afterwards. During the simulation exercise, participants role-play the lives of low-income families. The simulation enables participants to look at poverty from a variety of angles and then to discuss the potential for change within their local communities. This is a valuable learning experience for students as well as professionals. In addition, pre- and post-surveys on attitude and awareness may be collected. The simulation will be conducted on April 6 from 3-6 PM at Penn State Berks. If you are willing to volunteer please click the link below to sign-up and select your preferred role. Poverty Simulation Registration If you have any questions please feel free to contact Dr. Christina Scartozzi at [email protected]. Thank you! |
